Continuing on from our debut match in 2011 which we chose to name “Bout out of Hell” (a pun on the 1977 Meatloaf track Bat out of Hell), for our 2012 season opener we have chosen another rock n roll themed bout! The exciting match up with Newcastle Roller girls, taking place at Harvey Hadden Sports Complex on 11th Feb is named “Hotter than Hell”, after the 1974 album of the same name by gods of rock KISS. Well known for their distinctive style, including full face makeup, we thought the KISS album and title was a perfect fit.
We commissioned local illustrators Chris Booth and Glenn More to create the artwork for the poster and free program which will be distributed on the day and featured 4 roller girls with KISS like makeup, echoing the Hotter than Hell album cover.
On Friday the 20th Jan we were surprised and delighted to find that a KISS fan had spotted the piece and submitted it to the official KISS Facebook fan page, which is host to almost five and a half millions fans! This post also made its way onto the Official KISS Online website, providing more exposure for our team and our exciting season opener.
We are currently training hard for what is set to be an unmisable match and who knows, maybe Gene Simmons himself will make a guest appearance?
