On 14th August 2011, 15 members of Nottingham’s Hellfire Harlots Roller Derby took party in the annual Goodwood Roller Marathon, hosted by Camberly Skaters at the famous Goodwood Motor Circuit just outside Chichester, West Sussex. All 15 skaters, including both seasoned skaters, and several newer skaters, completed the full 26 miles on quad roller skates in times ranging from 2 hours 28 minutes, to just over 4 hours. The marathon was participated in to raise money for the national children’s charity, NSPCC. Initially the group hoped to raise £300 for the charity, but exceeded this target by over double, finally reaching a sponsorship total of £749, all of which was donated to the charity. A fantastic weekend was had by all who took part and it is hoped that we can raise even more next year whilst also beating the times set this year!
